Gastronomy of the island of Lastovo is based on its natural resources. Traditional meals based on local foods, especially on organically grown vegetables on the fertile fields of Lastovo, are represented more and more in the gastronomic offer of the island. If you taste zucchini, eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, potatoes and other vegetables from the fields of Lastovo, you will be convinced of the impeccable quality of these foods. Of the traditional dishes of Lastovo, the best known are grilled sardines, chickpeas with salty sardines, conger stew, grilled hornbeam, and Lastovo white dessert skalice, prkle (fritule), kotonjata and arancini. Chicken, goat meat and lamb baked under the bell are also very popular. Lastovo’s gastronomy is known for its rich offer of fish, crabs and molluscs. We must not forget olive oil or Lastovo wines, most notably Maraština (Rukatac) and Plavac mali.
THE ŠARIĆ WINERY
The Šarić winery’s wine cellar is located at the foot of the town of Lastovo in the area called Gornja Luka, known as the place where the Poklad descends during the carnival. Present and future lovers of wine can take a tour of the cellar and try quality wines with local specialties.

The “Podanje” family farm is the first of its type on the island of Lastovo. It is located in a stone house between an olive grove and a hundred-year old evergreen oak forest, which creates pleasant shade during the summer. The superb ambiance is completed by the aromas and tastes of home-made food grown in many Lastovo fields. The capacity of this family farm is 50 seats, so make a booking before visiting.
